Frequently Asked Questions

When is it Time for Hospice Care?

Hospice care is about allowing those with life-limiting illnesses to transition comfortably to a more peaceful end-of-life experience by providing personal care to our patients and their loved ones. Hospice encompasses a peaceful, serene and calm environment. Our patient-centered care is committed to understanding the needs of each patient and assisting them in finding their own comfort.

Where is Hospice Care Given?

Our hospice services are provided directly to the patient at his or her home, whether that is their residence, an assisted living facility, a nursing home, or a board and care facility.

Who Pays for Hospice Services?

Hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medi-Cal, and participating private insurance plans. Medicare and Medi-Cal provide coverage for medications, equipment, and hospice services associated with comfort as they relate to the patient’s diagnoses. Under Medicare law, no person may be refused hospice care due to the inability to pay. Each hospice has a financial specialist on staff to answer questions about receiving financial assistance. Funds may be available from donations, gifts, grants, or other community sources to help cover the costs of care.
